Leafs lose close one

Sunday May 15/16

Your Ivy Leafs were in Newlowell on Thursday to take on the defending champ Knights. Your Leafs had a great pitching performance by second year pitcher Jarred Vanderpost.  Vanderpost pitched a complete game, gave up 5 hits, had 9 strikeouts, 2 walks and 1 earned run.  The leafs bats were not there we they needed them and they left 13 runners on base and eventually took the lost 3-2.

The Leafs tilt on Sunday against the Orangeville Giants was postponed due to really damp conditions at Victoria Park in Ivy.  They are working on a rescheduled date later in May or Late July.  We will let you know as soon as we have confirmed.

So far your Leafs are 1-1-0 and will travel up Hwy 400 to Midland on Thursday night for a date with the Midland Indians at 7 pm at Gord Dyment Park .

After Thursday your Leafs will then by participating in the Lisle Astros annual Victoria Day ball tournament in Lisle .  They will take on the Bolton Brewers on Sat morning in Game 1 at  9 am. Depending on the result they will either play at 9 am or 1 pm on Sunday.

The Leafs sent veteran right hander Brad Grieveson to the mound for the home opener and Brad pitch a complete game in getting the win. The Leafs hitters had their hitting shoes on today with a bunch of singles and double and homeruns from New Leaf Tyler Plumpton and grand slam from returning infielder Jeremy Fernandez. The Leafs took the game 11-0.
